A Journey Through Pitti Uomo
There is a particular rhythm to the streets of Florence during Pitti Uomo. It that of a measured pace, and the knowing nod exchanged between men who understand the weight of a well-cut coat.
The city, characterised by its ochre walls and worn cobbles, forms a fitting stage for this parade of style. Here, amid the hum of conversation and the rustle of cashmere, Italian menswear showcases itself like nowhere else.
We noticed how these men move through the crowds with an ease that is earned from years of mastery. Coats, effortlessly unbuttoned, flow through the wind. Gloves, worn but cared for, slip from a pocket. The colour palette is restrained to deep olives, navy tempered with grey, and a whisper of burgundy in the lining of a jacket. Shoes are polished not for effect, but out of habit. This is not just dressing; this is a ritual and a way of being. A testament to the idea that tailoring, done properly is an extension of the man himself.
What captivated us most was the quiet certainty these silver-temple men held. How they did not dress to be noticed, and yet, one cannot help but notice. It quickly became clear that their style choices were dictated by a devotion to craft and a deference to history.
At Andrew Brookes Tailoring, we understand this. We honour it. Because true elegance is not stitched overnight. It is acquired, worn in, carried forward. When we walked through Florence that day, we saw the common interests we shared with our Italian friends – invest in quality and allow the fabric to move with you, not against you. Wear confidence as though it were woven into the very cloth on your back, and above all, understand that time does not erode style, it refines it.
